post-operative therapy

Every surgery, even the most successful one, has a disruptive physiological impact on the body.

Our programs restore range of motion, muscle strength and joint mobility, and we help you regain the level of mobility that you had before the injury occurred. Post-operative exercises are progressive in nature and tailored specifically to patient’s individual needs.

No two patients are alike and no two injuries are alike. It is crucially important to take the full clinical picture into account when working with a post operative patient, and that is what we do here at the CPT.

POST-OPERATIVE THERAPY BEGINS BEFORE SURGERY

Before surgery, you should visit CPT for a thorough evaluation and preparation for recovery in advance of surgery. It can make a big difference in the time it takes to bounce back to normal.

Following in-patient therapy, you’ll continue recovering with programs to reduce swelling, improve muscular control of injured joints, and restore range of motion. Soon, we focus on activities of daily living, and normal movement. You’ll notice improved fitness and well-being, and along the way, gain a better understanding of your total body.

Post-op exercises address the following:

• Inflammation and pain

• Stiffness and deep tissue healing

• Restoration of joint mobility

• Flexibility and range of motion

• Return to activities of daily living

• Muscle control and strengthening

• Stamina and overall fitness
